FLATFILES (May 23, 2012)

I am thrilled to be participating in the 2012 Kansas City Flatfiles exhibition at H&R Block Artspace. This invitational biennial exhibition provides visitors with a unique and intimate art viewing experience, encouraging viewers to browse through individual artist portfolios stored within flatfile cabinets, or select video works to screen in the “Videofile.” June 2 – September 29, 2012.

NEUTRAL SPACE at SBG ()

I will be participating in, Neutral Space, a group exhibition opening June 1st, 2012, at Spray Booth Gallery. Check out the exhibition essay here. It seems author, Neil Thurn, is throwing down the gauntlet for Kansas City, “We need to engage ideologically with and against our peers and do so more actively than Halley has… Otherwise we will be stuck making neutral spaces, work that is ideologically empty and without consequence, while drinking free alcohol and half-heartedly congratulating each other. Artists need to re-engage with ideology and therefore each other. And this is true for not only geometric artists but all artists in general.” Hope to see you to the opening, 6pm-10pm.

BAD AT SPORTS / ART PRACTICAL (May 17, 2012)

Kansas City had the pleasure of hosting writers and editors from the San Francisco-based online publication Art Practical. You can listen to some fantastic interviews between AP and Plug Projects, an artist-run gallery, on Bad At Sports. Through this exchange, I also wrote and published a “Shotgun Review” for Art Practical online: Subterranean Gallery’s Hot Tub Dialogues.

New American Paintings #101 Midwest Edition (April 17, 2012)

I am excited to be included in the forthcoming edition of New American Paintings, Midwestern Edition #101. The juror for this issue is Lisa Freiman, Chair of Contemporary Art at The Indianapolis Museum of Art. Keep your eyes peeled for it on shelves soon!

New Group Show: Congrats Congratulations Party ()

Currently my work is featured in the group show, XOXO,  at Spray Booth Gallery through March 17, 2012.

WHEELHOUSE REVIEW

My work is currently featured on a beautiful blog exploring the studios of art practitioners based in the Midwest. It was a great pleasure to welcome Robert Josiah Bingaman and  Mike Sinclair over for a studio visit. Blog written and maintained by Robert Josiah Bingaman. All photographs by Mike Sinclair.

PLUG PROJECTS

In 2010, group of five artists, Cory Imig, Amy Kligman, Misha Kligman, Nicole Mauser, and Caleb Taylor, co-founded PLUG Projects, an artist run gallery.  Plug is based in the historic Stockyards District of the West Bottoms in Kansas City, Missouri. PLUG is proud to be 2011 recipients of a Rocket Grant from The Andy Warhol Foundation,The Charlotte Street Foundation, and The Spencer Museum of Art. Along with community support, the grant has enabled us to organize one year of exhibition programming that features solo and group exhibitions, Critique Nights, Art Rap Battles and a dynamic Guest Curated Blog. PLUG also facilitates studio visits in KCMO with the emerging artists on exhibit from across the US. In 2012, PLUG was awarded an Inspiration Grant to support their program called, “Frames Per Second,” a series for Film, Video and New Media art.
